In addition to acknowledgements, our commitment is to reward contributors with freebees, free commercial software, discounts and various promotional give-aways. Expresso 5.0 - Sharp Zaurus 5000D PDA & Linksys Wireless Card Give-Away

November 1, 2002 - We are pleased to announce that Geeta Ramani, a Systems Programmer from Augusta, Maine, USA is the winner of the Sharp Zaurus 5000D package. Her contributions to the Newbie, Getting Started, and to the Contacts Example documentation are exemplary.

To make 5.0 release the most quality release to date this PDA Package was created to be awarded to the person contributing the best documentation. This exciting Zaurus unit was introduced at JavaOne '02 and had the excitement of so many developers because it runs Java and Linux; not to mention has great software, and an impressive TFT 65,536 colors screen, and keyboard that hides away.

We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the many other contributors. It was a difficult job for the core team to choose an overall winner since many of the documentation contributions were excellent. In light of this a second PDA is being awarded to the runner up (Tino Dai) and Expresso Shirts are awarded to the other outstanding documentation contributors (Eddie Lewis, David Lloyd, Clinton Parham, and Malcolm Wise). We'll be posting some pictures of the winners with their winnings- here's a start (click on picture to see larger):

Looking for New Promotion Ideas for Expresso 5.x

It's been mentioned by some of our contributors that they like open source to be fun. We'd like to keep this in mind and find ways of making the site and the community process more fun. Let us know your ideas.... more shirts, techie gadget fun or what?

Wrox Book Bi-Weekly Give-Away

Wrox Press and Jcorporate were pleased to have a book give-away to the best code contribution every other week! This promotion is no longer applicable.

November 29, 2002 - Congratulations, Larry Hamel is the winner of the book 'Expert One on One J2EE Design and Development'. He has been selected as winner for his race condition fixing in DBObject. This is a bug that we've been chasing for months!

December 13, 2002 - Congratulations, Peter Pilgrim is the winner of the book 'Expert One on One J2EE Design and Development'. He has been selected as winner for his documentation additions as well as his additional struts integrations.
